Hypocritical stand
To the editor:
STUNNED! I was shocked at the hypocrisy of the Journal-World’s endorsement of Shallenburger for governor. His stated willingness to cut funds for education flies in the face of the often-repeated need of Lawrence schools for additional money. How can a newspaper that claims to be the voice of the community be so blatantly hypocritical?
The parents and children of Lawrence deserve better than this. A strong public school system is a selling point for Lawrence. Every member of the city benefits from good schools and an educated electorate. The Journal-World failed its readers and the community and even its own self interests.
