County: Commission to review power application

Douglas County commissioners are preparing for a high-power application during a low-key meeting this morning.

Commissioners will consider a request from Kansas City Power and Light Co. to install a voltage regulator southwest of East 1800 and North 200 roads, less than a mile southeast of Baldwin.

The regulator about 12 feet tall and covering 24 square feet would help provide consistent and safe electric service to customers in the area, officials said. A 19-foot-tall tower would be installed alongside the building.

During the meeting, set for 9 a.m. at the Douglas County Courthouse, 1100 Mass., commissioners also plan to:

agree to buy two dump trucks, two snow plows and two spreaders from KCR International Trucks Inc. for $201,808.
