To the editor:
Hooray for Garth Myer's letter of Oct. 26. It is time for voters and others to realize that the promises made to gain votes are not the same as leadership. Leadership, at every level, is listening to the concerns of people and then telling them the facts and working together on how to accomplish realistic goals. The education lobby and unions may be able to garner votes and support for pie-in-the-sky ideals, but it usually is by spending other people's money. Given Kansas' economy today, where is this money?
Furthermore, given the money already spent on education, where are the promised results?
Clearly, more money is not the answer.
Let's hear more of the truth and fewer promises designed only to get votes. Why should small children be the only ones to ask the hard questions?
