Three killed in accidents

Two people, including a 1-year-old boy, died Sunday in a crash in Liberal, bringing to three the number of people reported killed on the state’s roads during the long Memorial Day weekend.

Luis Rosales, 21, of Liberal, and 1-year-old Juan-Luis Rosales died, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.

The patrol said their pickup, driven by Luis Rosales, failed to stop at an intersection in north Liberal. A car hit it in the left rear, spinning it into a stoplight pole.

Another passenger in the pickup was injured; no one was injured in the second vehicle. None of the three people in the pickup were wearing seat belts, the patrol said.

Amanda G. Nash, 19, of Larned, died Saturday morning when the pickup truck she was driving crossed the center line of Kansas 156 in Pawnee County and collided head-on with an eastbound tractor-trailer, the patrol said.
