To the editor:

I would like to thank the city of Lawrence and those responsible for the traffic-calming devices. The return of safety to our streets is greatly appreciated. It is nice to be able to use and cross our neighborhood streets safely. The return of the high-speed 18-wheelers and other speeding vehicles to the arterials is nice for the safety on our neighborhood streets. Calming of high-speed traffic on streets designed for slower speed is a good thing.

We should all drive safely on our streets. We should all drive safely for our pedestrians crossing our streets. Safety devices on our streets are for everybody’s safety. Safe drivers should be able to accommodate all safety devices.
