One passenger injured in North Lawrence rollover

One person was injured and another was taken to jail after a car overturned early Friday on railroad tracks in North Lawrence.

About 3 a.m., Lawrence Police were sent to North Seventh and Maple streets, where they found an overturned 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier.

The car’s driver, Chadrick L. Toehay, 20, 155 Indian Ave., was not injured, police said.

A passenger, Kristin Cliff, 20, also of 155 Indian Ave., suffered an arm injury and was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, police said.A hospital spokeswoman said Cliff refused treatment.

Toehay was arrested by police and taken to the Douglas County Jail for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was later released pending possible filing of charges.

The accident is still under investigation and no other details were available Friday.

Lifestyle magazine searching for students to profile

1010 Magazine, a national lifestyle magazine located in Lawrence, is looking for student models.

The magazine, which is looking for students to profile in an upcoming issue, is having a student model search from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today on the fourth floor of the Kansas Union.

Recent graduates and full-time students are eligible.

“What we hope to do is find the typical KU student, girl or guy,” said Marion Mariathasan, president and founder of 1010 Magazine. “Everyone on the staff is connected to KU in some way, and we thought it was important that we focus on the college that got us all started.”
