Respect for dead

To the editor:

The recent grisly discovery of the crematory in Georgia that callously tossed corpses away reminds us of the unique place the dead have in our and other cultures. Who among us was not touched by the anguish of the families whose loved ones were treated like so-much trash? Perhaps now we have some insight into why the Native American community is so fiercely protective of the Haskell/Baker Wetlands and the many gravesites it contains.
