Lawrence Police are investigating a series of incidents that occurred Monday and the few days prior to that in which a Lawrence man and two Lawrence teen-agers shot paintball guns at passing cars and other structures as they drove down Lawrence and Douglas County roads, Sgt. Dave Hubbel said. One of the incidents occurred about 1:20 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of Iowa Street and was reported by an employee of Johnny I’s, a police report said. In another incident, one of the suspects threw an empty carbon dioxide cartridge, which powered a paintball gun, out the window and hit the window of a passing car somewhere in Douglas County, Hubbel said. The suspects hit a number of items in addition to other vehicles, but details and damage estimates were not available Tuesday. A 20-year-old Lawrence man was arrested on suspicion of launching missiles.

Burglaries and thefts reported

A 2000 Pontiac Bonneville was taken sometime Monday night or early Tuesday from the 3100 block of Campfire Drive, a 55-year-old Lawrence woman told Lawrence Police. The car and its contents were valued at $25,950. She told officers the car may have been unlocked and the keys may have been in it.
