Passive faculty?

The insightfulness and the generosity of your editorial on KU’s “salary priorities” is extremely welcome and most timely. As a retired member of the KU faculty, I have been shocked and saddened by the total failure of the university to take any action, even symbolic, to cushion such a heartless decision.
While certainly, as you point out so well, the administration is at fault in this matter, one can only bemoan the failure of the current faculty to respond in any way to such a drastic step. A seemingly supine and seemingly indifferent faculty surely gets what it deserves.
