The United Way of Douglas County needs three volunteers to help with general maintenance and repairs at the United Way for Human Services Office Building.
Tasks may include painting, yard work and cleaning.
Pennington said he was looking for volunteers who were willing to commit to an ongoing volunteer relationship with the United Way of Douglas County. Volunteers would have flexible hours and would be used as needed.
Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old. No application is required. If interested, contact Pennington.
Immediate volunteer needs: Douglas County AIDS Project will be offering orientation for new volunteers from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Anyone interested in attending or learning about volunteer opportunities should call 843-0040.
Therapeutic Horse Riding Instruction of Lawrence needs volunteers to help with setup and cleanup at its benefit horseshow July 6 at Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds. Volunteers are also needed to run the concession stand. For more information, contact Leann Williams, 841-9740.
Trinity Respite Care needs volunteers to provide respite care to families. Duties may include reading to a patient, light meal preparation or other light duties. For more information, contact Angie Anderson, 842-3159.
