To the editor:

“What Kind of Fool am I?” Or is it “Bad, Bad Leroy Towns.” If reports about statements coming from Sen. Roberts’ office are correct, one of these should be their theme song.

The only reason to make negative comments about Phill Kline would be to support his opponent. It would have been simpler and more politic to simply issue an announcement of support and then leave it up to the voters. What kind of fool would support Phill for a federal office and then claim he really was not qualified? Did you simply not do your homework and check it out as you are supposed to do?

Whatever happened to the days of savoir faire and national stature associated with Kansas senators such as Kassebaum and Dole? Why do we never see our current senators in the photo-op shots of congressional leadership or with the president?

Perhaps political ineptitude and bungling at both the national and local level tells all. Kansans deserve better.
