Rush to judgment

To the editor:

How about waiting until there is an actual incident before screaming front-page headlines that “Open shelter neighbors feel under siege” (June 30)?

How about doing a story about the number of dedicated volunteers who have worked tirelessly throughout this past year to create a safe opening and program for this shelter?

How about interviewing the priest and his parishioners who still believe in compassion and caring?

The deaths of our homeless citizens on our streets have received less notice.
