Shallow analysis

July 2, 2002

To the editor:

It's no surprise that George Bush lacks the intelligence to understand the atmospheric chemistry, physics and thermodynamics involved in global warming. Also not surprising is Mr. Bush's curt and witless dismissal of the findings of his own administration regarding the reality of global warming: "I read the report put out by the bureaucracy."

Subsequently, we've now learned that Mr. Bush has further problems with the meaning of simple words such as, for example, "read." Really, all of this reiterates the fact that Mr. Bush is evidently incapable of anything beyond shallow and superficial analysis of the serious energy and environmental problems we collectively face. That's too bad, because our children and their children and grandchildren will be much the worse for Mr. Bush's failings.
