‘Bussing’ concern

To the editor:

When I opened up the paper Wednesday, I saw red. It wasn’t the article on the president’s address. It wasn’t even the fact that budget concerns may force the high schools to do away with zero hour. (Please don’t!)

No, what really made my blood boil was seeing in today’s “On the Street” question that this paper does not know the difference between a synonym for “kissed” and an oh-so-slightly different word that refers to hauling too many kids to school unnecessarily on too many buses. That’s right. The word is “bused,” not “bussed.”

By the way, if we do get the kids back to walking to neighborhood schools instead of having hundreds of buses roaming the streets all day, we may find there’s plenty of money left in the till to keep zero hour in the high schools.
