Back education

To the editor:

After reading the article “Possible school cuts opposed,” I am compelled to write and encourage Lawrence citizens who support education to do more. The education budget crisis does not begin and end with the Lawrence school board. We need to go to our state legislators to voice our concerns about education funding. It is still early in this session and the elected officials making the decisions need to hear from you!

To be quite honest, the education opposition is making more noise than the education supporters. This is not good. If you really want to make a difference and get the funding needed to support the programs you feel are important, simply attending a school board meeting is not enough. We have to convince those who allocate funds at the state level. Let them know that you care about the education dollar and the salaries of our teachers. Let them know that you will be going to the polls and voting for the candidates who support the education of our next generation.
