Law enforcement report

Burglaries and thefts reported

An exciting career in cosmetology might await the thief who allegedly stole $1,536 worth of goods from a parked car in the 3900 block of Overland Drive.

A bottle of disinfectant, a pair of shears, a "feather-raiser," and a set of electric clippers were among the hair-sculpting tools reported stolen from the car, which belonged to a 20-year-old hair stylist from Manhattan.

She told police the theft happened sometime between 9 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday. The thief also took clothes, a pair of shoes and about $500 worth of compact discs, she told police.

Police reports

A 52-year-old woman suffered minor injuries when her daughter's cat bit her on the face about 10 p.m. Friday, according to a Lawrence Police report. The woman was taking care of the cat at her home in the 4300 block of Wimbledon Terrace and was picking it up when the bite happened, Sgt. Paul Fellers said.

The bite produced "two small abrasions," Fellers said.
