Law enforcement report Burglaries and thefts

  • A burglar who appears to be curious about the life of Winston Churchill paid a visit to a Lawrence home, according to a Lawrence Police report. A 56-year-old man told police a burglar broke a window screen at his home in the 2500 block of Jasu Drive sometime between Nov. 27 and 9 a.m. Wednesday. The burglar made off with a copy of a book about Churchill titled “The War Years,” the man told police. The window screen was valued at $35. The book was valued at $1.
  • A 37-year-old woman reported a violin and case worth $1,200 taken from her home in the 1950 block of N. 1550 Road in Eudora, according to a Douglas County Sheriff’s report. The burglary happened between 6 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Dec. 12, according to the report. The woman also reported $40-$80 in cash missing and $100 in damage to a window.
