To the editor:

I am the proud parent of Jordan Brown, a second-grade student at Sunset Hill. Jordan currently attends the Boys’ and Girls’ Club after-school program at the main site on Haskell and has previously attended another program at Langston Hughes. I would like to thank all the staff at the various Boys’ and Girls’ Club sites and all of the community members who support them. To live in a community that is so giving to its children is an honor.

Without their support of my family, Jordan would be unable to participate in many of the activities they make available to him through transportation and financial support received from other community members. Everyday he is excited to attend the club. He enjoys goofing off with the staff, assigning them crazy nicknames, and beating the various staff members in a game of pool during free time.

I enjoy that he is in a safe environment where he is able to get his homework done and participate in planned activities appropriate for a child his age. When my child succeeds, take some credit. You helped make it happen. Your gifts and talents are remembered and appreciated.
