How to respond
To the editor:
Jeff Medis is gay. A simply statement. A statement that may have moved several individuals to approach him, to judge him, and to beat him. A crime of hate.
To say I am appalled, sickened, at a loss for words; it is not enough. I am outraged, and moved to action. Tell me, where do I turn to express my anger? How do I respond? How do we all respond? Put down your coffee, and open your eyes, is this the diverse community that we thought we lived in?
I turn my outrage to prayer, and ask God for Jeff’s speedy recovery, and pray that Lawrence can heal as well.
