Christmas parade causes T to reroute its buses

Lawrence Transit System will reroute buses today in the downtown area for the Eldridge Old Fashioned Christmas Parade.

Massachusetts Street from Seventh Street to South Park will be closed as of 10:30 a.m. for the parade, which starts at 11 a.m. Kentucky, Seventh and Ninth streets downtown also will be closed.

Transit buses will be unable to cross Massachusetts Street during the parade so boarding locations will be a block east or west of the regular sites :quot; at Ninth and New Hampshire streets and Ninth and Vermont streets.

Police: 1 missing FSHS student back safely at home

At least one of the two Free State High School students reported missing since Tuesday has been found.

Joy Amon, mother of 15-year-old Serena Amon, said her daughter was found about 4 p.m. Friday by Lawrence Police.

The circumstances of the girl’s disappearance still were unclear Friday.

Joy Amon said she was told police knew the whereabouts of the other girl who was reported missing, too. But a Lawrence Police shift supervisor said late Friday that he didn’t know the status of the girl.

On campus: Events begin Sunday for KU’s fall graduates

Ceremonies honoring fall Kansas University graduates begin Sunday and run through Dec. 20.

The official commencement ceremony for the class of 2003 will be May 18, 2003.

Fall graduation events are:

  • School of Engineering, 1 p.m. Sunday, Woodruff Auditorium, Kansas Union.
  • School of Journalism and Mass Communications, 3 p.m. Sunday, Woodruff Auditorium.
  • School of Business, 10 a.m. Dec. 14, Lied Center.
  • College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, 2 p.m. Dec. 15, Lied Center.
  • School of Law, 7 p.m. Dec. 20, Woodruff Auditorium.
