Short and sweet

Companies adding color

Is nothing sacred anymore? First there was green ketchup, then colored fries. Now Pepperidge Farm and Joe Corbi’s Pizza are joining the color bandwagon. Pepperidge Farm, which has been making Goldfish Crackers for 40 years, is introducing Goldfish Crackers in red, orange and violet.

The crackers will be sold in traditional bags for about $1.79 for 5.5 ounces.

Meanwhile, Baltimore-based Joe Corbi’s has teamed up with Crayola to produce a line of pizza kits that include eight blue and red crusts, four different colored sauces, and cheese. The kits, sold by school groups and sports teams to raise money, sell for $17.50. For information, call (888) 526-7247.

How to spice up turkey

Flavor the Christmas turkey with the holiday’s most identifiable herb by strategically placing fresh sage leaves between the bird’s skin and meat before roasting.

To make the job easy, gently loosen the breast skin, starting at the cavity end, by sliding your hand underneath the skin. Take care not to tear the skin. Then slide individual sage leaves under the skin wherever desired.

The tip comes from Donna Pierce of the Chicago Tribune.
