A local charity will temporarily close later this week for building improvements.

Penn House, 1035 Pa., will close its doors from Friday to Sept. 9 while work is completed inside the building.

To prepare for the construction, the agency will be taking only small donations next week.

During the renovations, Penn House staff members suggest that donors hang on to items they wish to donate or take them to the Social Service League Store, 905 R.I., or another agency.

Donations should not be left outside Penn House.
