Help for homeless

To the editor:

If the Salvation Army can raise an additional $15,000, our homeless citizens will have a place of safety nightly from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. for 153 more nights this year.

Late last summer the commissioners helped our homeless and, again Tuesday evening, they stepped up, and with a unanimous vote, allocated $20,000 to help make this “Mats for Heads” become a reality.

The caring leadership, provided by our commissioners makes it possible for citizens to rest more easily in our beds at night, knowing that our homeless people will have available to them a safe shelter.

The generous gifts of the members of this community, plus the vote of $20,000 allocated by our commissioners, may help prevent further deaths among our homeless citizens.
