O-North tops LHS in soccer

? Olathe North scored four unanswered goals in defeating Lawrence High, 4-2, in girls soccer on Tuesday at Olathe District Activities Center.

The Lions (2-2-1) scored first when senior Carrie Skahan stole the ball and slipped past three players about 15 minutes into the game. LHS senior Sam Lopez scored off an assist by Aly Barland for the final score.

“I was the most excited about all the chances we created and all the opportunities we had,” LHS coach Keith Nelson said. “Considering that’s the best team we’ve played, we really had a lot of chances to score and a lot of opportunities on their end of the field. I was very, very happy.”

Nelson cited sophomore defender Lesley Belt and midfielders Andrea Stoneback and Bryn Gardner for their play.

The Lions will play host to Shawnee Mission South on Thursday at Youth Sports Inc.
