Police presence

To the editor:

If we are going to have a kinder, gentler City Hall, perhaps we might also encourage the Police Department to follow suit. Recently, a car with three “For Sale” signs in the three front windows was parked in the right-of-way (there is no shoulder) of Kasold at the southwest corner of Kasold and Peterson. This seemed to me an inappropriate place to attempt to sell a car. The officer with whom I spoke at LPD thought the whole thing was funny, “Maybe they wanted to avoid a tow fee.” Ha-ha.

It is immaterial what “they” thought; this was no place to park a car, purportedly for sale. She finally agreed to send an officer and assured me that, per my request, the outcome of the call would be reported to me. This, of course, did not happen, until, hours later, I called back, to get more double-talk and, by pressing, an answer. It is time for a change in attitude, if not personnel.
