Burglaries and thefts reported

Someone threw a rock through the glass door of University Audio, 2319 La., shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday. A burglar then entered the store and took a cash box containing about $1,000, and a compact disc player. Total damage and losses were listed at $2,370. Police were notified of the burglary by the store’s alarm system, but officers didn’t find any suspects when they arrived about three minutes later, police reported.

A 1991 Chevrolet Suburban valued at $4,750 was taken sometime April 2 from the 400 block of East 23rd Street. The vehicle belonged to a 37-year-old Lawrence man.

A 49-year-old Lawrence woman told Lawrence Police Wednesday that someone had taken a gold-and-diamond wedding ring, cash and coins from her home in the 1600 block of West 25th Street. The thefts are believed to have occurred sometime after Sept. 27, 2001, a police report said.

A 45-year-old Lawrence man told Lawrence Police that someone removed miscellaneous tools worth $980 from a tool box at his residence. The theft occurred between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday at his residence on Regency Place. Damage to the tool box was estimated at $300.
