Beverly Burrows

Beverly Jean Burrows, 98, of Lawrence, Kansas, died Thursday, January 17 at Presbyterian Manor, where she had resided for 8 years. She was born May 9, 1920 in Ottawa, Kansas, to Eugene and Edith (O’Flaherty) Pope. Beverly graduated from Ottawa High School in 1938.

On March 22, 1942, she married Charles M. Burrows in Ottawa, Kansas. They moved to Topeka, Kansas where Charles worked in the post audit department for the State of Kansas. They moved to Lawrence in 1961 when Charles accepted a job in the Comptroller’s Office of the University of Kansas. They had four children, all born in Topeka: Ann B. Seymour (Larry) of Victor, Montana, Dee E. Clifford (Ron) of Henderson, Nevada, Gary C. (Tina) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Jean E. Truman (Tom) of Overland Park, Kansas. Beverly had two granddaughters, Virginia (Gina) and Theresa (Tessa) of Salt Lake City.

Beverly was a homemaker for many years, while raising children and participating in many volunteer activities. She was very involved in the First United Methodist Church of Lawrence, where she participated in the Lady Belles and sang in the choir, as well as various church committees. Hobbies included traveling, quilting, bridge, fishing, and she loved music. She was a member of several clubs – No Name Club, HDU, church circle, and delivered Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her 4 children and 2 granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and brother, John W. Pope.

As Beverly loved birds and flowers, her life will be celebrated in the Spring.
