Gerhart and Barley
Laci Manette Gerhart, daughter of Bruce and Denise Gerhart of Hutchinson, KS and Anthony John Barley, son of David and Winnie Barley of Pinole, CA were married at the Stratosphere Hotel in Las Vegas, NV on January 2nd, 2013. The double-ring ceremony was held on the 108th floor Stratosphere observatory, overlooking the Las Vegas strip.
The maid of honor for the ceremony was Renee Tanner, friend of the couple, and the best man was Dominic Barley, brother of the groom.
The bride is a graduate of Hutchinson High School and the University of Kansas and is currently completing a PhD at the University of Kansas in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
The groom is a graduate of Salesian High School and Sacramento State University and is currently completing a PhD at the University of Kansas in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
Hunter and Jones
Bryan and Phyllis Hunter are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Nicole Lynn, to Paul Jones. Nicole is a 2004 graduate of Lawrence High School and 2010 graduate of Kansas State University. She currently teaches fourth grade at Ft. Riley Elementary School. Paul, originally from San Diego, is a 2000 graduate of Val Halla High School and currently works at Ft. Riley as a Department of the Army civilian. An August 3, 2013 wedding is planned at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence.
Kenneth and Mary “Tyke” Callicott, Lawrence, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at the home of Nancy and Dennis Copp.
Mary Landree and Kenneth P. Callicott were married Jan. 14, 1948 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Memphis, Tenn.
The couple moved to Lawrence in January 1948 for Ken to attend the University of Kansas on a GI Bill.
Ken worked at FMC chemical plant for 18 years. He later worked at McGrew Real Estate Agency until retiring in 1985.
Tyke was a homemaker and worked part-time at Daniels Jewelry and also at McGrew until retiring in 1987.
They have three daughters, Nancy Copp and husband Dennis, and Donna Hoffman and husband Scot, all of Lawrence, and Mary “Punkin” Cherico and husband Art, Hemingway, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Glen and Vivian Freeman, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 19th, 2012, at the Union Pacific Depot in Lawrence.
Glen and Vivian were married on December 21, 1962, in Lawrence, and built their family life here, where they owned Freeman Automotive for many years.
Family and friends enjoyed fellowship and a wonderful dinner hosted by their two sons, Dan and Steve and their families. They have four grandchildren and one great grand-son.
