Jane and Jerry Rogers
Jerry and Jane Rogers, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Thursday.
Jane Heywood and Jerry Rogers were married Aug. 2, 1952, at McClintock Chapel at Grace Cathedral in Topeka.
Both grew up in Topeka and are graduates of Topeka High School. They met while attending Washburn University. The couple made their residence in Lawrence. Jane earned a bachelor’s degree and was a homemaker. Jerry earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in education. He was employed by Lawrence High School as a coach, counselor and teacher for 17 years. He then worked for Kansas University as a financial aid officer and later director of that department for 24 years, retiring in 1991.
They have a daughter, Jennifer Rogers, Lenexa; a son, Kyle, and wife Michelle Vignola-Rogers, Lawrence; and three grandchildren.
Wedding
Perera and Van Reekum
Surangi and William Van Reekum
Surangi Kaush Perera and William Parsons Van Reekum, both of Lawrence, were married June 30, 2012, at Danforth Chapel at Kansas University with the Rev. Rick Clock officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Leelaratne and Sriyalata Perera, Sri Lanka.
The groom is the son of Royce and Cathey Parsons, Lawrence.
Matron of honor was Shirani Gonzales. Best man was Dustin Downing, Jr. Bridesmaid was Elizabeth Edmonson. Ringbearer was the bride’s son, Kyle Deshan. Flower girl was Emily Johnson. Pianist was Judy Chadwick. Ushers were Derrick Downing, Eric Rivard and Michael Rivard. Due to the distance, Ron Wroczynski escorted the bride.
A reception was held at the Holidome.
The bride graduated from high school and attended college in Sri Lanka.
The groom is a 1995 graduate of Lawrence High School and a 1996 graduate of Salina Vo Tech.
Both are employed by KU.
The couple reside in Lawrence.

Kurt and Tina Knox, Johnston, Iowa, along with Bob and Jolene Pearson, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their children, Emily Olivia Knox, Johnston, to Seth Joachim Pearson, Lawrence.
The future bride is a 2010 graduate of Waukee (Iowa) High School. She graduated this May from Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa, and is employed with the Lawrence School District.
The future groom is a 2008 graduate of Lawrence High School. He attended Johnson County Community College and is employed by The Four B Corporation in Shawnee.
The couple plan an Oct. 13, 2012, wedding at Point of Grace Church in Waukee.

Kirby Haynes and Leila Novelo
Leila Novelo and Kirby Haynes, both of Wichita, announce their engagement.
The future bride is the daughter of Cindy Novelo, Lawrence, and Jaime Novelo, Caye Caulker, Belize. She is a graduate of Baldwin High School and Kansas State University and plans to attend graduate school in social work at Wichita State University.
The future groom is the son of Ronda Peck, Heavener, Okla., and Randy Haynes, Alaska. He is a graduate of Heavener High School and Southeastern Oklahoma State University and is a safety engineer with Flint Hills Resources in Wichita.
The couple plan a May 26, 2013, wedding in Lawrence.

Matthew Pawlowicz and Jacqueline Miller
James Miller and Martha Tucci, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jacqueline Miller, to Matthew Pawlowicz, both of Richmond, Va.
The future bride is also the daughter of Sandra Chapek, Lawrence. She is a graduate of Free State High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas University and a master’s degree from the University of Virginia, both in civil engineering, and is a engineer for Wiley|Wilson in Richmond.
The future groom is the son of Christopher and Joan Pawlowicz, Seattle. He is a graduate of Lake Forest (Ill.) High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in archaeological studies from Yale University, a doctorate in anthropology from the University of Virginia, and is an anthropology instructor at Virginia Commonwealth University.
The couple plan an Aug. 18, 2012, wedding in Lawrence.
