Watch for lane closures in K.C. area
Looks like bridge inspections and related work are picking up in the Kansas City metro area, cutting into the free flow of traffic on some major roadways.Here’s a rundown of the traffic effects of various projects this week, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation:U.S. Highway 69• Bridge work will reduce U.S. 69 to one lane in each direction between 103rd Street and Interstate 435 in Johnson County. Lane closures are scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.• Bridge inspection work will spur alternating lane closures Wednesday along U.S. 69 — the section known as 18th Street Expressway — from Metropolitan to Kansas avenues in Wyandotte County. The closures are set for 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.Interstate 670• Bridge inspection work will trigger alternating lane closures Wednesday along I-670, from the Interstate 70/I-670 split to State Line Road in Wyandotte County. The closures are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.Kansas Highway 7• Pavement repairs will close the right lane for traffic headed south on K-7, from Johnson Drive to Prairie Star Parkway in Johnson County. The closure is scheduled to be in effect 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. until completion Thursday.
