Moran intends to run for U.S. Senate, report says

A fairly major political development is taking shape. U.S. Rep. Jerry Moran, R-Hays, has said he will run for the U.S. Senate in 2010. Moran made his plans known to a few supporters in a letter, a copy of which was obtained by The Hays Daily News. In the letter, he said, “While I am running for re-election to the House this fall, I intend to run for the U.S. Senate in 2010.”The Senate seat is currently held by U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback, who has said he will not seek re-election.Moran is currently seeking his seventh term in the House.
