Sebelius sounding vice presidential?
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, took a page out of Barack Obama’s theme of unity, when she interrupted Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean, who seemed to be heading toward remarks that may have been dismissive about Republicans.Sebelius and Dean were participating in a brief telephone news conference to announce that Obama would make his speech to accept the Democratic nomination for president at 75,000-seat Invesco Field in Denver, rather than the party’s national convention hall, which will be in a smaller arena.Dean and Sebelius, who is co-chairwoman of the convention, said the new speech location would give more people a chance to hear Obama and represented the inclusive nature of his candidacy.Would Republicans be welcome, asked a reporter. Dean started getting on a roll about how the nomination was a Democratic Party process, and people shouldn’t expect it to be open to the GOP when Sebelius, who has been mentioned as a possible vice presidential running mate, interrupted and said she believed there would be a lot of Republicans there because Obama has attracted voters from both parties and independents.Dean then said he liked Sebelius’ answer better than his own.
