Thumbs up or thumbs down today on the proposed two 700-megawatt coal-burning electric plants in western Kansas.Kansas Department of Health and Environment Secretary Roderick Bremby will announce his decision at 3 p.m. Yesterday House Speaker Melvin Neufeld, R-Ingalls, said if state law is followed, Bremby will approve the plants because they meet all current environmental regulations. “Anything else is purely a political decision,” Neufeld said.But opponents of the project say Bremby has wide discretion to reject the plants.LJWorld.com will have the story as soon as possible after the 3 p.m. announcement.
