Fatal accident subject of reviewLegal issues surrounding a February accident that killed a Tonganoxie teen will be considered Thursday.The Special Committee on the Judiciary will hear testimony from Dennis Bixby, the father of Amanda Bixby, who was killed in a three-vehicle accident at 158th Street and U.S. Highway 24-40 in Basehor.Ricardo Flores was ordered to pay $250 in fines and spend six months on probation after pleading no contest to failure to yield at a stop sign, speeding and driving without a driver’s license. Flores missed a stop sign before striking Amanda Bixby’s vehicle.He was originally arrested on a charge of vehicular homicide, but that was never filed in court, prosecutors said, because of a 2002 Kansas Supreme Court ruling that said running a stop sign did not satisfy the legal requirements for a vehicular homicide conviction.The committee meets at 10 a.m. Thursday in room 123-South in the Capitol.Edmonds returnFormer state Rep.
