Cowgirl’s Train Set

Fresh off their first Colorado tour, Cowgirl’s Train Set will make their way to The Bottleneck on Friday night with Dr. Cotton and Deep Fried Squirrel.

Redefining traditional bluegrass with high-octane bluesy, boogie aggression, this seven-piece band has had a jam-packed year so far with plenty of festivals under its belt: Park Stomp in Oklahoma, String Break in Newton, Kan., Festy Fest in Lawrence, Wakarusa Festival in Arkansas (after winning the Winter Waka Classic), Missouri Chainsaw Grassacre in St. Louis and Kansas City, Mo., and Love Fest in the Midwest in Bellevue, Neb.

After a solid stretch of concerts booked from July 18 to July 27, the band’s back on home turf and ready to remind Lawrence of its fierce sounding instrumentals and soaring harmonies.

Dubb Nubb

If you’ve yet to hear the indie folk sounds of these three Rainey sisters from St. Louis, there’s no better time than Sunday to introduce you to Dubb Nubb.
Their simplistic songs have a sweet summer feel as twins Delia and Hannah sing complementary, yet sometimes jarring, harmonies of love, loss and the natural world around them achieving a sort of nostalgic, melancholic feeling.
The eclectic voices are accompanied by guitar, mandolin, ukulele and basic rhythms played by Amanda on a banjo drum. It’s a perfectly homey sound only sisters can achieve. And a matinee show with tacos included is hard to pass. Carey Scott and Youngest Children will also be joining Dubb Nubb.
