KJHK 90.7 FM, student-run radio at Kansas University, is getting ready for its 20th annual Farmers’ Ball battle of the bands, and is in its final days of accepting submissions from local (Lawrence and greater KC) musicians. Submissions close on March 2, so if you’re interested you better get your music to the them pronto.

KJHK and SUA student staff will listen to all submissions, and narrow them down to 16 acts. Those bands will be unveiled to the public who will be responsible for narrowing the group down to eight semi-finalists through online voting, which will open at noon Monday, March 24 and close on Friday, April 4.

The eith semi-finalists for Farmers’ Ball will be announced on Sunday, April 6. They will compete for audience votes at the live semi-finals show on Saturday, April 19 at the Bottleneck. Only four bands will advance (based on audience voting) to the final round on April 26 where the big prizes come into play.

The first-place winner receives a hefty $2,000 prize, the second-place winner gets $1,000, and the runners-up receive promotional prizes as well.

You must be available to perform on both dates to participate. Check out more information and eligibility rules here.
