Cowboy Indian Bear
Lawrence’s own indie rock phenomenon is playing at the Granada to support last spring’s Live Young, Die Old 13-track album of beautifully engineered orchestral sounds, captured by producer Joshua Browning. This is their fourth album, put together over three years and including touring experiences, lost loved ones, exotic travels and more. This is their last show of the year. Be sure to make it out to see “Lawrence, Kansas’s favorite sons (and daughter).” Middle Twin and Forrester are the opening acts.

Tech N9ne
Kansas City hip hop artist Aaron Dontez Yates, better known as Tech N9ne, is the homegrown star who made it mainstream, most recently releasing “Hiccup” video at the end of last month from latest Therapy EP. In this song, Tech N9ne shouts out the Pussy Riot and Charles Ramsey while rapping over heavy rap metal riffs in a manic video portraying a robber’s motivation in reverse. He also released his Something Else LP this year, giving fans plenty of material to indulge in already, and has talked about the many ideas he has in store for the next album. This man won’t quit. Kansas City MC Gee Watts will open for the show.

KPR Big Band Christmas
Kansas Public Radio is hosting its fifth annual Big Band Christmas Concert complete with music holiday music performed by 17-piece Kansas City Jazz Orchestra and vocalist Ron Gutierrez. The bottom floor with have table settings for those who arrive the earliest as doors open at 7 p.m. Additional seating is available in the balcony. KPR encourages guests to bring in nonperishable food items to the concert and they will donate all items to Just Food.

Rock For Tots Christmas Show
Support a family by bringing a toy to enter the Jackpot for their Rock For Tots Christmas Show. There is talk of the Saloon Santa making an appearance (let’s hope he joins the bands) as well as performances by Emily White, Jonathan Woods, Outlaw Jake and the Chain Gang, Automatic Wolf and King Dong. Outlaw Jake and the Chain Gang is an alternative country rock band that tells the triumphs of everyday folk through their small-town roots feeling music.

Brody Buster Band
Brody Buster was a harmonica child prodigy, having picked up the harmonica at age 7 and teaching himself the ropes, as if that’s easy. When he was 9 years old, B.B. King referred to him as “one of the greatest harmonica players of our time.” By 10 he was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and by 12, he shared a stage with Quincy Jones, Isaac Hayes and Keb’ Mo’ at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Basically, he hit all of the major milestones. Based in Lawrence, the bluesy rock and roll Brody Buster Band formed when Buster was 27, releasing Will Die Young in 2011.
