Home Depot? World Market? Factory Direct Appliance? Where Do You Find the Best Deals on Home Furnishings?

Our house selling/buying/moving adventure has come to a close and now we are on to the next phase… unpacking, rearranging and making this house our home. I’ve been saving money on the sly so that when we got to this point we could do some of the things on our “Want” list … not just the things on our “Need” list, all without going into debt.

That all sounds great, but it turns out I’m at a little bit of a loss. I’m good…I’ll say VERY good…at finding deals, saving money and getting what I want at a very good price. Until it comes to big ticket items like home furnishings. Why? We don’t buy big ticket items. When it comes to these things: appliances, furniture, electronics … I don’t know where to start. I don’t even think I’d know a good deal when I saw one.

I have my budget, I have my wish list….but I don’t have the information I need to make good decisions and I’m not afraid to ask for help. I’ll research, I’ll shop around, and eventually I will decide where we will get the most out of our money. But what I REALLY need is advice from other people. People like YOU.

What constitutes a good deal on these things? Where do you go first when you need any one of these new bigger items? What tips and tricks can you share with me? Is it better to buy appliances all at once in a suite…or piece by piece as you find them on sale? What about televisions? The flat screen tv we have was a gift… I have no idea what a good price is … or where to go to compare them. And furniture? The last furniture I bought was a set of bunk beds….before that? Well, it was before kids so I don’t really remember.

So today I’m not sharing any deals…no tips from me on how to shave money from your budget…but I’m hoping you will share what YOU know with me!
