Shop Target for Your Mother’s Day ….Vacuum?

With Mother’s Day NEXT WEEK (did you forget?) there are an inordinate amount of ads aimed at “The Perfect Gift” to buy for Mom: jewelry, clothing, coffee makers, VACUUMS…???? While a high end vacuum like, well, anything from the Dyson line, is fantastic…it does not fall under the category of “Best Mother’s Day Present Ever”. I have many thoughts as to what does NOT justify adequate Mother’s Day gifts or behavior….but you can read about those over at SuperJenn.

Need a vacuum? By all means…use any of the sales at Target, Sears, JCPenney or Kohl’s to pick one up. Just don’t call it your Mother’s Day gift….do something else … like give her a nap (ahem) …. she will appreciate the sentiment much more, I promise. Most of the stores I listed have decent vacuum sales, including the Dysons I mentioned earlier. Dyson doesn’t often go on sale and is an amazing vacuum. We purchased one 5 years ago…amidst the moans and groans of my husband who couldn’t believe we would spend THAT kind of money on a vacuum. He has since rescinded his objection and agrees this was a purchase well worth the money. This vacuum is still going strong and continues to amaze me.

Dyson has a new cordless stick vac out: the DC35 Multi Floor. Having recently researched myself blind over purchasing a stick vac, this is hands down the best one I found. Sadly, I couldn’t justify spending $300 on a stick vac when my Dyson Animal is still in its prime. WalMart features this vac in its circular this week as a “One Time Offer” of $299. Don’t be fooled and rush into a purchase: this is the standard sticker price listed at Dyson.com.

The other models listed on sale at various stores are, in fact, a good deal and many of them come with an accessory bundle that is quite a deal in of itself.

Spend a little time preparing for Mother’s Day …. but don’t believe every ad you see. Not everything is a good gift idea…and not everything is a good price! (AND…if anyone who cares is reading….a NAP is still FREE and a monumentally good idea…)
