Is this the week KU’s road losing streak ends?
Judging from nearby conditions — such as the Kansas City Royals advancing to the World Series — perhaps this weekend’s college football slate will bring some unpredictable upsets.
Who knows? Maybe Kansas University can even end its 29-game road losing streak by winning at Texas Tech.
Our Lawrence Journal-World staffers will try to navigate the prediction waters successfully and determine what bizarre, Royals-like scenario is next in the world of sports.

Answer: I wouldn’t be surprised if the Kansas football team snaps its 29-game road losing streak Saturday against Texas Tech, but I’ll play it somewhat safe and pick the Royals win the World Series. I’m not sure it will be another sweep, but it just feels like the Royals are a team of destiny right now.

Baylor 45, West Virginia 41
Oklahoma 31, Kansas State 27
TCU 39, Oklahoma State 28
Texas 27, Iowa State 21
Notre Dame 29, Florida State 27
Answer: Kansas City’s march to the World Series sparks a whole new generation of athlete, players who, inspired by the recent stretch by the Royals, run everything out, play hard and have fun without having to be begged to do it, value defense and play it like their lives depend on it and debunk the flash, glitz and glamour of the current sports world for the joys of just playing the game and the desire to be more like one of the guys on a great team than the guy who leads SportsCenter and gets into all of the clubs for free. Crazy thought, huh?

Overall: 25-11 Last week: 4-2
Texas Tech 26, Kansas 24
Baylor 49, West Virginia 38
Oklahoma 33, Kansas State 27
TCU 41, Oklahoma State 20
Texas 30, Iowa State 17
Florida State 35, Notre Dame 27
Answer: The Jacksonville Jaguars go to the Super Bowl? The Minnesota Timberwolves go to the NBA Finals? It’s hard to come up with a scenario quite as crazy as this Royals run, and I don’t think either of those two options will play out anytime soon. I’ll say some non-elite men’s basketball program from a non-power conference wins the NCAA title. Some program like VCU.

Kansas 23, Texas Tech 20
Baylor 40, West Virginia 37
Kansas State 27, Oklahoma 26
TCU 33, Oklahoma State 21
Texas 20, Iowa State 17
Florida State 24, Notre Dame 20
Answer: With Kevin Durant out, Russell Westbrook channels his insane energy into a historic season:
So, Westbrook shot .853 shots per minute w/o Durant last year. Wilt shot .814 shots per minute the year he averaged 50 PPG.#GrabsPopcorn

Baylor 49, West Virginia 47
Oklahoma 33, Kansas State 17
TCU 44, OSU 21
Texas 24, Iowa State 23
Florida State 30, Notre Dame 24
Answer: I guess there’s only one choice here. The Cubs within the next four years will reach the World Series. That’s about the only thing left that’s as crazy as the Royals making it this far. I can’t quite see the Chiefs reaching the Super Bowl anytime soon, but I guess that would be wild, too.

Overall: 24-12 Last week: 4-2
Texas Tech 28, Kansas 21
Baylor 48, West Virginia 47
Oklahoma 35, Kansas State 28
TCU 28, Oklahoma State 24
