Lawrence Police responded on five disturbances this morning.

The first incident was a battery at a business in the 700 block of Massachusetts Street at 12:50 a.m. One person was reported to be unconscious and bleeding from the back of the head following the incident. Medics transported one person to LMH. That person’s injuries were not believed to be life threatening. Police received 911 call from a witness to the battery who was following the suspect away from the business. That witness lost sight of the alleged suspect before Lawrence Police were able to catch up. As of this report, no arrests have been recorded.

At 1:55 a.m., Police were dispatched on a report of another battery, this time in the 900 block of Massachusetts Street. Officers requested Medics to the scene for two people injured. The suspect, described as a black male, approximately 6′ 2″ tall and 200lbs. He was last seen wearing a red, white and black flannel shirt and was running northbound from the area. Medics checked out both people who were reported injured. Injuries were described as minor. No one was transported from that scene by Medics. As of this report, no arrests have been recorded.

At 2:54 a.m., Lawrence Police and Fire were called to an address in the 1400 block of Vermont Street for a car fire. Police arrived to report that the vehicle was nearly fully involved and a tree above the car was beginning to catch fire. A witness told Police that a white male was seen banging on the vehicle and then setting fire to it. The witness described the suspect as approximately 5′ 8″ – 5′ 10″ tall, and wearing a red plaid shirt. He was last seen running southbound on Vermont Street. Fire officials reported the fire to be “all-clear and under control” at 3:13 a.m.. Officers detained one subject a few blocks from the scene however, as of this report no arrests have been recorded. A fire investigator arrived at the scene shortly after 4 a.m..

Around 4:45 a.m., there was a report of a possibly fatal accident in western Leavenworth County. The accident scene was in the 25000 block of Ragtown Road, approximately three miles northeast of McLouth or six miles northwest of Tonganoxie. One person was reported to be pinned under an overturned vehicle. Very few other details were immediately available. More on this story can be found here from Operation 100 News.

None of this morning’s activity in Douglas County was reported to have involved any serious injuries.
