September 6th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up
At 1:40 a.m., Lawrence Police were called to a business in the 2300 block of Iowa Street for a non-injury accident. While investigating the accident, Officers found the involved was in possession of a .40 caliber handgun. That driver was arrested and faces charges for being a convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm and DWI related to the accident.
Police were called to an apartment in the 2500 block of W 31st Street at 2:43 a.m., for an aggravated burglary. The caller reported she awoke to find a man shining a “cell phone light” in her apartment. The man fled from the apartment when the resident woke up. The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build. After Police began investigating, they learned that the incident had occurred approximately 30 minutes prior to the resident calling 911.
Around 7:30 a.m., Police were called to what was reported as a Battery in the parking lot of the Dillons at 3000 W 6th Street. The caller reported two employees had asked a man to leave the store and then escorted the man outside. Officers later reported that there was no crime committed and the man was given a trespassing warning.
None of this morning’s activity was reported to have involved any serious injuries.
