Hillary on TV Tuesday night

Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius will deliver remarks before the Democratic National Convention about 8 p.m. Tuesday. The headliner, however, will be U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., who is scheduled to address delegates between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. – probably about 9:30. Longtime Democratic Party official Dan Lykins of Topeka, one of Clinton’s biggest Kansas supporters during the caucuses, says he sees a lot of people react to U.S. Sen. Barack Obama in much the same way they did to Robert Kennedy, when he ran for president in 1968. “He had so many people excited,” Lykins said of Kennedy. “I see the same support for Barack Obama.” He said people from a wide political spectrum supported Kennedy for some of the same reasons they support Obama. “They are fed up with broken promiese,” he said.Bill Roy Jr., chairman of the Johnson County Democratic Party, said he believes Democrats will make gains in legislative races there this November. Of the 22 House seats, 19 are held by Republicans and 3 by Democrats. None of the seven Senate seats is held by Democrats. He said education funding is the top issue in the county.
