On the road

Check back regularly to see what they’re saying._We are here and its a zoo, but a good zoo.Cops are every where and in force, it’s a little spooky. Our trip (my husband George drove) across Kansas was uneventful and we enjoyed the landscape. Yes, we like western Kansas. There is a simple but profound beauty in the land and sky of western Kansas.A fairly new wind farm near Ellsworth sparked a discussion of T. Boone Pickens and his plans for the states in the Great Plains (I received a DVD in the mail.) According to Pickens, Kansas has 70 trillion killowatt hours of wind power available per year – mind-bending stuff. The wind mills are closer to the highway than the turbines in Iowa. They reminded us of art that moves. Cool.We met a nice truck driver, in Oakley, that was sure that Obama was going to pick Hillary Clinton as his running mate. He figured that was the reason for the Hawaii trip – Obama was trying to convince Michelle that all would be well if Hillary was on the ticket but it would take a trip to a tropical island to close the deal. Wrong, but a nice thought.Outside of Denver a rather aggressive driver was playing tag with us. The car would speed up and pass us then slow down so we would be forced to pass. This went on for a while, then finally the car veered onto the exit ramp, horn honking. We figured that was the old west way of welcoming a car, with Hillary Clinton for President on the back window, to the Rockies.Welcome to the Democratic National Convention.
