The Roller Coaster Continues

The month of December has given us a wide variety of weather to deal with. December 17th brought in sub-zero readings (it plummeted to -2° F) while the next week brought back record heat and thunderstorms (we hit a high of 67° F on December 26th). After several days of temperatures in the 40’s and 50’s we are going to have to deal with another cool-down starting Saturday evening. The next batch of cold air will move into the area early Saturday evening leaving us with with overnight lows in the upper teens and low twenties. Ahead of the front we will likely see a light rain or drizzle followed by a chance of freezing drizzle as the front passes through. Don’t expect major problems with ice, but be prepared for slick spots on area roads late Saturday night and early Sunday morning. While the temperatures for the rest of the weekend and early week will bring highs near 30°, our snow chances will remain low until Tuesday when a weak low pressure system pushes moisture in from the Gulf of Mexico which will mix with the cold air already in place. The most likely scenario is for a rain/snow mix on Tuesday. Wednesday looks more pleasant with our highs making a push for the 40’s.
