KU’s ‘brand identity’ firm finds another client
¢ The company who handled the “brand identity” campaign for KU has started a similar project with Oregon State University, the Salem News reports._”We just asked ourselves – why not OS for Oregon State?” said (Michael) Morrow, who has worked on identity projects for many sports brands, professional teams and universities, including the University of Notre Dame and the University of Kansas. “We see the Interlocking OS as innovating in the Collegiate marketplace. In the coming years as the Beavers continue to compete nationally on the biggest stages of college sports, fans across the country will know that we are the Oregon State Beavers.”_¢ USA Today ranks Lawrence resident Bill James as one of the most influential people in baseball._James was named one of the world’s 100 most influential people by Time magazine last year. He has even inspired several books. In commentary at the end of the latest, How Bill James Changed Our View of the Game of Baseball, ESPN senior writer and analyst Tim Kurkjian observes: “At the recent winter meetings : I saw a general manager carrying around a copy of The Bill James Handbook. I’m sure he wasn’t the only one. That alone tells me the influence Bill James has had.”_¢ Tim Jankovich, the former KU assistant basketball coach who now is head coach at Illinois State, is the subject of a profile in today’s Bloomington (Ill.) Pantagraph._”It still feels a little surreal,” said Jankovich, relaxing for a couple moments on the leather couch in his new office at Redbird Arena. “It’s reality, but it feels a little surreal because : your life is moving at a certain pace and all of a sudden somebody flipped a switch and shot a whole bunch of volts of electricity and then it’s fast forward.”_
