Modie Bones

Saturday night, the husband and I (and several friends) hit the Replay to check out Modie Bones. It had been a beautiful day in Lawrence, and lots of people were out hitting the town in the evening.

The show was a lot of fun. Modie Bones has this kind of loud (very loud) garage/punk feel (where were you when I was 19, Modie Bones?!). Think The Hives mixed with White Stripes. Then add a whole lot of obnoxious. Tah-dah!

Modie Bones is a screamer. Very much so. And I heart screamers. You could scream through most of your songs and I would love you. Sorry, that’s the harsh (and awesome!) truth.

When the lead singer talked, he sounded like Jesse Pinkman from “Breaking Bad,” but when he screamed, he did it well.

What else did they do well? Getting people to boogie.

At one point in the show, someone yelled out “This isn’t Kansas City, this is LAWRENCE! Play faster!” So they did. And here’s the result:

Also, at the show, this chick was handing out Leis.

So afterward, I gave mine to a cute little ukulele player on the street corner (she wasn’t bad!).

I also like guitarists that move a lot on stage. Since there’s just two of them (guitarist and drummer), he had the whole stage to thrash about:

Was a good, fun show. More info about the band can be found on their MySpace page.
