KU Crime Blotter: Week of Oct. 3 through Oct. 9

The following incidents were reported to the University of Kansas Office of Public Safety between Monday, Oct. 3, and Sunday, Oct. 9. Incidents are listed by the dates they were reported.

Oct. 9

• Someone punctured another person’s car tires overnight Oct. 8 or Oct. 9 in Lot 110, 1600 block of West 15th St. Damage was estimated at $500.

• Someone stole prescription medication from another person’s backpack Oct. 8 or Oct. 9 at Daisy Hill Commons. Loss was valued at $10.

Oct. 7

• Someone pushed a parking gate arm up, and later someone else pushed the gate down, both causing damage, Oct. 6 or Oct. 7 in the Mississippi Street parking garage. Damage was estimated at $3.

Oct. 6

• Someone used a computer to scam another person into paying for a vehicle with iTunes gift cards, but the person who forked over the gift cards never received the vehicle. Loss was valued at $4,500. (See related story.)

• Someone ripped down a wooden plaque, damaging the wall, Oct. 6 at JRP Hall. Damage was estimated at $100. Loss was valued at $150.

• Someone stole a bicycle from a rack Oct. 4 or Oct. 5 at Haworth Hall. Loss was valued at $450.
• Someone stole a backpack that was left next to a vehicle Oct. 6 in the Mississippi Street parking garage. Loss was valued at $540.

Oct. 5

• Someone ripped down two bathroom signs, damaging the wall, between Sept. 30 and Oct. 3 at JRP Hall. Damage was estimated at $200. Loss was valued at $150.

Oct. 4

• A simple assault occurred about 9:15 a.m. Oct. 4 in the 1400 block of Jayhawk Boulevard. Someone was pushed.

Oct. 3

• Someone pulled a parking gate off its hinges and took it about 1:35 a.m. Oct. 3 from the Mississippi Street parking garage. Damage was estimated at $250. Loss was valued at $200. The suspect was arrested.

• A car was damaged, apparently from being keyed, between Sept. 28 and Sept. 30 in Lot 109, 1600 block of West 15th St. Damage was estimated at $400.
