‘Rally for Public Education’ to be held on Saturday

A rally on Saturday, March 28, 2015, in South Park was part of a legislative advocacy group walking from Kansas City to Topeka to create awareness for public education.

Educate Lawrence, a local public education advocacy group, is hosting a rally in South Park on Saturday.

The second annual “Rally for Public Education” will begin at 12:30 p.m. Participants will welcome those walking from Kansas City to Topeka to raise awareness of funding and policy issues affecting Kansas public schools.

The march to Topeka is organized by the state advocacy group Game On for Kansas Schools. Saturday’s rally will include speeches from local legislators, including Tom Sloan and Barbara Ballard. Representatives from the Lawrence school board and the Lawrence Education Association will also speak.
