See/Saw Festival to include youth events at Lawrence Public Library

This weekend’s See/Saw Festival will screen about a dozen films, including several for children and teens.

The festival — a project of Kansas University Professionals for Inclusion and Social Justice in the KU Department of Special Education — sets out to encourage dialogue about borders, both physical and personal, according to the event’s website.

For children ages 5-11, there is a drama games workshop Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. in the reader’s theater of the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St. On Sunday, organizers will screen “Eleanor’s Secret” in the library’s auditorium at 4:30 p.m.

For youth ages 12-18, there are four events. On Friday, “The Year We Thought About Love” will be screened in the library’s auditorium at 6:45 p.m. On Saturday, there will be a screening of “Landfill Harmonic” at 12:45 p.m., a screenwriting workshop at 3 p.m. and a youth conversation at 4:30 p.m.

A complete list of event times and locations, as well as trailers for the films, is available on the event’s website.

The festival is free and open to the public.
